Job title: Mechanic (Chattham)
About the Role The Mobile Field Mechanic role sits within Aecon Utilities, Ontario's premier utility contractor. Under general supervision, you will perform skilled journeyman level maintenance and repairs on construction equipment and vehicles to keep project sites moving safely and efficiently.
What You'll Do
- Maintain and service a fleet of trucks and trailers
- Maintain and service a fleet of construction equipment
- Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety, Environmental and National Safety Code policies and regulations
- Read diagrams/schematics and manufacturers repair manuals
- Service electrical, hydraulic, powertrain, suspension, brake and air systems
- Operate a hoist and lift device to position machinery parts safely
- Inspect and examine vehicles and equipment
- Lubricate, service, diagnose, repair, assemble, and maintain equipment
- Diagnose faults with computer diagnostics and provide timely repairs
- Guide and instruct less experienced or apprentice maintenance personnel
- Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs of all equipment
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic troubles
- Respond to emergency breakdown service calls
- Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment
- Make repairs per manufacturer specifications
- Use computer/electronic systems to interpret failure modes
- Propose positive changes to policies and procedures as required
- Maintain excellent customer relations and coordinate with operations and suppliers
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in equipment and vehicle maintenance and repairs
- Truck and Coach Service License (310T) required
- Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician (421A) an asset
- Excellent mechanical knowledge
- Heavy lifting capability
- Valid DZ license in good standing an asset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- High school diploma an asset
- Able to work with minimal supervision
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $40-$47/hr
