Mechanic

About the Role

The Mechanic at Cemex will diagnose and repair diesel tractors, trailers, and other wheeled equipment to keep our fleet safe and productive. You’ll work on-site in Cocoa, FL and may travel regionally to service company equipment while following CEMEX and regulatory safety standards.

What You'll Do

• Examine and diagnose vehicle problems and repair according to accepted methods
• Discuss extensive or difficult repairs with Terminal Manager and/or Supervisor
• Enforce CEMEX safety policies (e.g., lockout/tagout) and ensure OSHA compliance
• Perform routine preventive maintenance per PM checklist
• Raise vehicles with hydraulic jack or hoist and remove/replace components (alternators, starters, water pumps, radiators, compressors, clutches, transmissions, wheel assemblies, brakes, drivelines, gearboxes, pumps, etc.)
• Disassemble components, inspect parts for wear, and determine cause of failure
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical systems
• Replace and adjust headlights and install/repair accessories (radios, heaters, mirrors, wipers)
• Enter work orders for equipment inventory purposes
• Occasional regional travel to repair equipment
• Maintain safety gear and follow OSHA, MSHA, and company rules
• What We're Looking For
• High school diploma or equivalent; 3 years related experience or training or an equivalent combination
• Valid Driver's License; prefer Class A or Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 180 days with driving record meeting company requirements
• Forklift certified or willing to obtain; TWIC preferred or willing to obtain
• Able to understand and execute written and verbal instructions; bilingual Spanish is a plus
• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems with multiple variables and read/interpret instructions
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and to perform tasks requiring standing, walking, and climbing
• Nice to Have
• Spanish language skills; CDL/ CDL testing readiness (preferred)
