About the Role The Mathematics Instructor (Part-time) at Central Ohio Technical College provides high-quality, accessible instruction in mathematics to support student learning and success. This temporary, part-time position contributes to the college's mission by delivering engaging, outcome-based coursework and maintaining records in alignment with institutional standards.
What You'll Do
- Deliver high-quality mathematics instruction aligned with course objectives and institutional standards.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assignments, and assessments to support student learning.
- Utilize diverse instructional strategies, including technology-enhanced learning, to accommodate various learning styles.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to promote academic growth.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and assessments in accordance with college policies.
- Be available for student inquiries and maintain office hours or virtual support as needed.
- Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment and model professional conduct.
What We're Looking For
- Must reside in the state of Ohio and meet the educational requirements described below.
- A master's degree in mathematics or a master's degree in another discipline plus the equivalent of 18 graduate-level hours of mathematics from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors, and staff.
- Willingness to teach and communicate using a variety of instructional modes, email and online learning management systems.
- Commitment to meeting students' learning needs and empowering students in their learning endeavors.
- Personal and educational philosophy compatible with the mission, values, goals, and objectives of Central Ohio Technical College.
- Requires successful completion of a background check.
- Preferred qualifications: Doctorate degree in the subject area; previous teaching experience and experience with curriculum development and assessment.
Nice to Have
- Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution in the subject area.
