Job title: Materials Manager

About the Role The Materials Manager will oversee direct management and handling of all raw and finished goods inventory and warehousing functions, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient material flow within the facility. This role requires strong leadership to manage a team of Supervisors and a large number of staff and to drive accurate inventory oversight and continuous improvements.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure safety is a priority and adherence to OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate raw material inventory counts and oversee all inventory and material movement processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate material movement within manufacturing facility and warehouse.
  • Supervise a team of employees, including hiring decisions, delegation, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage parts shipping/receiving and all intercompany transactions.
  • Lead quarterly and annual inventory counts and reconciliations.
  • Train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policy.
  • Maintain strict control over inventory levels to meet internal and external demand.
  • Plan warehouse layout and space requirements to prevent loss or damage and optimize warehouse operations.
  • Maintain documentation for regulated products and hazardous materials.
  • Conduct periodic spot-checks of inventory levels, supplies, or equipment.
  • Ensure materials are in the workstation when required.
  • Assess and arrange purchase of moving equipment (trailers, forklifts, etc.).
  • Identify discrepancies between inventory records and take action.
  • Implement and monitor performance metrics for receiving and inventory.
  • Manage time and attendance system.
  • Promote employee development through effective communication, cross-training, and problem-solving feedback.
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and quality of work.
  • Demonstrate leadership, team-building, and the ability to supervise and motivate effectively.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in inventory management, warehousing, shipping/receiving, and intercompany transactions.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a staff of five Supervisors and 50 total reports.
  • Commitment to safety, OSHA guidelines, and regulatory documentation.
  • Ability to plan layout, optimize space, and maintain inventory accuracy to meet demand.
  • Excellent communication, training, and problem-solving abilities.
