About this role

About the Role Canonical is seeking a Marketing professional to act as a brand steward and demand creator for our Ubuntu and open-source portfolio. You will transform complex open-source technology into clear messages, stories, and strategies, shaping market understanding of our vision. You’ll collaborate in a cross-functional unit to drive campaigns across long buying cycles, balancing storytelling with data and rapid experimentation.

What You'll Do

  • Contribute campaigns and insights that help Canonical learn and grow faster.
  • Translate complex open-source technology into differentiated product positioning and messaging.
  • Support account-based engagement, partner and alliance messaging, or product-led growth across long buying cycles.
  • Design experiments, measure outcomes, and iterate to improve impact.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in in-person strategy sessions 2–4 times per year when traveling.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in marketing technology or open-source software.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into compelling messaging.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and a data-driven mindset.
  • Comfortable with long sales cycles and multi-channel campaigns.
  • Willingness to travel for in-person alignments (2–4 times per year).
  • Specialization in differentiated product/portfolio positioning, account-based engagement, partner and alliance messaging, or product-led growth is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in ABM, partner and alliance messaging, or product-led growth in enterprise software or open-source ecosystems.
  • Open-source marketing experience.
  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative, globally distributed team.
