The Marketing and Communication Coordinator for Samford University’s Brock School of Business serves as a representative of the Marketing and Communication department. Working under the direction of the Executive Director of University Marketing and the Dean of Brock School of Business, this role develops integrated marketing strategies and supporting tactics to advance the school's reputation, recruitment, and fundraising goals.

Job Duties This position will contribute to the overall success of Samford University’s Brock School of Business by coordinating marketing and communication activities. Duties include the following:

Serve as Marketing and Communication’s primary liaison to Brock School of Business.

Collaborate with the dean to understand the business goals of the school. Leverage the strategic marketing roadmap process to implement plans that support these goals and ensure brand consistency. Consistently measure and report on the progress of these activities.

Coordinate meaningful and strategic communication with prospective students, alumni, donors and friends through various communications channels, including newsletters, social media, webpages, direct mail and email.

Enhance marketing goals by writing and posting content for school website and social media channels, including taking responsibility for content that ensures strong, brand consistent messages and timely updates. Regularly review analytics.

Ensure that key academic programs, special projects and events within the school are appropriately supported through marketing and communication tactics. In conjunction with the dean and department chairs, regularly review pieces to ensure they are accurate, timely and brand consistent. Initiate creative process to have new materials created as needed.

Collaborate with school leaders and university advancement to develop messaging and strategy for fundraising appeals and stewardship materials.

Retain a strong understanding of programs and practices related to the school and its integrated marketing and communication needs. Regularly communicate these to the greater university and external audiences as appropriate.

Support the university’s strategic external communication plan by writing feature stories and news releases highlighting significant events, accomplishments and priorities within the school. Collaborate with the executive director of university communication to review, edit and distribute releases.

Identify and foster opportunities to leverage faculty expertise in the media.

Work with Marketing and Communication colleagues to coordinate strategic marketing efforts through digital advertising, social media, broadcast and video, and graphic design.

Coordinate unit specific merchandising needs in consultation with the Marketing and Communication department and university licensing process.

Engage in the school’s accreditation reviews by providing marketing materials as supporting collateral.

Attend school and university functions as appropriate to network with alumni and patrons

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Marketing, Communication, or a related field.

Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated work experience in marketing, brand management, or a communication-related field.

Ability to work independently, with a sense of urgency, and exercise prudent judgment in a fast-paced environment.

Exceptional skills and demonstrated work experience in professional writing and editing for a variety of media, including news, feature, digital and social.

Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously and to work with a wide variety of constituents.

Strong project and time management and organizational skills.

Technical competence in the workings of website and content management systems, social media monitoring systems, and digital (web and social) analytics.
