Mission Software Systems (MSS) brings together expertise across intelligence, software, and cloud to deliver end-to-end capability supporting the full intelligence lifecycle, from planning through to dissemination and feedback. The team fosters a culture of innovation, leveraging modern engineering practices and shared infrastructure to rapidly build, test, and deploy software solutions across a range of environments, including cloud. MSS also plays a key role in advancing technology modernisation within Government, delivering scalable and adaptable solutions for complex enterprise challenges.

The Opportunity

This role is an opportunity to lead the manufacturing contribution to complex programs, connecting program priorities with production capability, operational readiness and reliable delivery outcomes. As the Manufacturing Product Manager, you will be the primary manufacturing and operations interface across Program Management, Engineering, Sourcing, Quality and other business functions.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the development and integration of manufacturing plans from the concept phase through transition to production, supporting producibility, design-to-cost outcomes and the achievement of Manufacturing Readiness Levels.
• Own manufacturing cost and schedule commitments, including production build planning, budgets, baselines, forecasts, performance reporting and contributions to the Integrated Master Schedule.
• Coordinate Manufacturing Readiness Reviews, Production Readiness Reviews, make-or-buy activities, capital requirements, resource planning and the resolution of production risks, issues and priorities.
• Partner across multidisciplinary teams to ensure manufacturing processes, procedures and program artefacts are defined, maintained and implemented in line with organisational, contractual and quality requirements.

About You

We are looking for someone who can bring manufacturing, program delivery and commercial considerations together to support informed decisions and dependable production outcomes.

Essential:

• Experience leading manufacturing, production, industrial operations or product delivery activities within a complex engineering or regulated environment.
• Capability in developing and managing manufacturing plans, production schedules, budgets, forecasts, resource requirements and operational performance commitments.
• Experience supporting transition-to-production activities, manufacturing or production readiness reviews, risk and opportunity management, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work collaboratively across Program Management, Operations, Engineering, Sourcing, Quality and Finance, translating program requirements into practical manufacturing outcomes.
• Well-developed stakeholder engagement, reporting and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate cost, schedule, readiness, risk and performance information across governance forums.

Advantageous:

• Experience working within Defence, aerospace or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of integrated scheduling earned value or control account management practices.
• Experience contributing to proposals, operational baselining, capital planning and make-or-buy decisions.
• A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Business or a related discipline.
