About the Role The Manufacturing Department Supervisor/Operations Department Head at Corning Canton is responsible for providing technical input, solutions, and options to improve productivity and efficiency in assigned plant areas. This role entails leading a motivated and skilled workforce, directly supervising department supervisors and/or team leads, and ensuring personnel are technically competent through assessments, performance reviews, and targeted training.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement production area activities to meet goals for productivity, quality, and cost control.
- Establish department priorities and collaborate with Plant Engineering Manager, Plant Operations Manager, and HR Manager to ensure optimal resource utilization.
- Prioritize production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and material supply.
- Work with support functions to ensure manufacturing plans are executed within cost and schedule goals.
- Lead projects that support manufacturing needs and oversee projects to ensure critical path, milestones, and objectives are met.
- Assign work and provide direction to subordinates using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
- Communicate with subordinate supervisors, outside customers, and peers at management levels; present technical information on projects and schedules.
- Provide immediate supervision to units or groups, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
- Oversee the direction and inspection of teams assembling components, subassemblies, or processing raw materials into finished products in an industrial environment.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment with supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
- Ability to assess skills, write performance reviews, and provide training to ensure personnel are technically competent.
- Comfortable operating in a continuous operation facility (as in the Canton plant).
