Manual Machinist (2nd Shift)

About the Role Manual Machinist role focused on set ups and operation of large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and lathes to repair and overhaul pumps and compressors. Will interpret blueprints, select tools, and control speeds/feeds to achieve tight tolerances. This on-site Moody, AL role supports a culture of craftsmanship, safety, and collaboration. What You'll Do

• Perform set ups of large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operate large Vertical & Horizontal Lathes used to repair and overhaul Large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps & Compressors.
• Interpret blueprints/drawings to determine critical dimensions.
• Read micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators & other precision measuring & test equipment; maintain tolerances as low as .0005”.
• Determine appropriate cutting tools and speeds/feeds to obtain proper surface finish.
• Work overtime; typically throughout the week and occasionally on weekends.
• Safely operate forklift within a Machine Shop environment.
• Safely operate overhead crane.
• Adhere to all company EH&S & QMS processes.
• Lifting and rigging of heavy components of various configurations & weights.
• Assist in the disassembly, reassembly, repair and rebuilding of Large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps.
• Opportunities to cross train in different areas such as: Fabrication, Assembly, Rotar Balancing, etc.
• Other responsibilities as assigned. What We're Looking For
• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/Machinist.
• 2+ or more years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ years of experience operating King-style boring mills and/or vertical turning lathes (VTLs).
• Ability to effectively and safely use a variety of tools and equipment, including depth gauges, bore gauges, height gauges, feeler gauges, micrometers, calipers, deburring tools, die grinders, drill presses, and overhead lifting equipment.
• Core competencies: prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines; converting between metric and US standard units; solving problems with multiple variables; using standard problem-solving methods (5 Whys); sharing information effectively. Nice to Have
• HS Diploma or GED preferred; higher education or certificate a plus.
• Experience with manual machining such as VTL/Boring Mill/Horizontal Lathe.
• Brands such as Cincinnati and King.
• Proven ability to set up and operate Manual Machines, work centers, specializing in tool changes and in-process offset adjustments. Compensation & Benefits
• $3,500 Sign-On Bonus paid over 24 months for eligible new hires.
