Mandarin Speaking Visitor - Join Our Volunteer Team! Residential Care

HammondCare Volunteer Vacancies
Caulfield, Victoria, Australia Posted Oct 23, 2026
Full-time

About this role

你会说普通话吗?Nǐ huì shuō Pǔtōnghuà ma? [Speak Mandarin?]

Bring the Comfort of Conversation and Connection

Sometimes, there is nothing quite like being able to chat, laugh and share memories in the language that feels most familiar.

We’re looking for a warm and caring Mandarin-speaking volunteer to spend time with our Mandarin-speaking aged care residents and bring a little extra companionship to their week.

Your visits might include talking about family, favourite foods, festivals and traditions, music, places you have both visited or lived in, or simply enjoying an unhurried conversation together in Mandarin.

For an older person, having someone who can speak their language and take a genuine interest in their stories can bring a wonderful sense of comfort, belonging and connection.

You don’t need any special experience. We’re simply looking for someone who is kind, patient, a good listener and genuinely enjoys spending time with older people.

If you speak Mandarin and would enjoy forming a meaningful connection with an older member of our community, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note: Volunteer interviews and Orientation must take place on a weekday during business hours.

Your impact

Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
