About the Role EY's People Advisory Services Mobility practice helps clients manage Canadian and US personal income tax compliance and advisory needs for a global workforce. As Tax Manager, Mobility (Expat Tax), you will interface with international clients, lead tax planning and compliance, and guide junior colleagues in a fast-paced environment. - Interface with clients and colleagues worldwide by phone, video conference, and in-person meetings.
- Analyze client tax data to determine optimal Canadian and US filing positions and provide tax planning advice.
- Review US and Canadian personal income tax returns.
- Manage client accounts financially by developing budgets, determining resource requirements, timely invoicing, and revenue recognition, while monitoring financial metrics.
- Provide guidance to junior colleagues on tax technical and performance management.
- Contribute to a flexible, stable, team-oriented culture that fosters personal development.
- Conduct tax technical research to support both compliance and advisory deliverables.
- Leverage technology to maximize productivity.
- Understand client needs in mobility—immigration, workforce advisory, payroll systems—and offer integrated mobility solutions. What We're Looking For
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree (preferably in accounting, finance or related field) with a minimum of three to five years of US and/or Canadian personal income tax experience.
- Excellent knowledge of current automated tax processing systems and tax laws in area of technical specialization.
- Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills; ability to work under pressure in a time-sensitive environment.
- Effective communicator and confident team player with ability to collaborate across teams and adapt to changing demands.
- Commitment to learning in a tax-technical environment using evolving technology.
- Strong managerial, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Mandarin, Spanish and Japanese language skills would be of value. Nice to Have
- Japanese language skills (and Mandarin/Spanish as applicable) would be of value.
- Additional regional tax certifications or professional designations. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: Toronto: $92,000 to $138,000 (USD per year).
