Job title: Manager, Sustainability: Gi3

About the Role As a Manager within Deloitte's Sustainability: Gi3 practice, you will advise clients on sustainability and ESG-related Federal government incentives and manage the analysis and documentation of such opportunities. You will help clients address evolving legislation and support ESG goals, while partnering with leadership to identify process improvements and opportunities for new services.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and facilitate Federal C&I engagements related to sustainability and ESG, including programs under the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), such as sections 45Q Carbon Capture Tax Credit, 48 Investment Tax Credit, 45 Production Tax Credit, 30C Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit, 1400Z Qualified Opportunity Zones, 45D New Markets Tax Credit
  • Deliver value to clients by identifying opportunities and advising on potential benefit and eligibility requirements
  • Maintain and develop strong internal and client relationships
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and a quality-first mentality with respect to evaluating eligibility for various fact patterns
  • Develop processes with colleagues in other technical specialties to perform benefit calculations
  • Collaborate with member firms, including Advisory and Consulting, to execute work streams, such as valuation studies, tax equity modeling, and life cycle assessment (LCA) studies
  • Identify potential issues and propose solutions to leadership, as well as implement process improvement strategies
  • Ensure accurate, timely delivery of engagement deliverables, which may include presentation decks, executive summaries, credit calculations, completed tax forms, supporting files, memoranda, and IRS audit responses
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax developments and work with the team to present potential opportunities to assist clients
  • Develop and mentor team members
  • Provide support with various internal initiatives and special tax-related projects

What We're Looking For

  • Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, law, business administration, economics, engineering, environmental studies, geology, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in related field (exception applies for master's degree with 2+ years of experience)
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
  • Active accreditations obtained: Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA; if not CPA eligible, one of the other designations such as Licensed Attorney, Enrolled Agent, Certifications: PMP, CFA, Professional Engineer, GRI Certification
  • Demonstrated analytical and research skills, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven leadership skills demonstrating strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and proactively develop internal and external working relationships
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Preferred: Advanced degree such as MST, LLM, or JD, or related field
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple, competing priorities
  • Experience with tax technical research
