About the Role Riot Games is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to lead the Publishing Platform's Publishing Engagement team in Seoul. You will combine hands-on technical leadership with mentorship to deliver platform services that enable game content delivery and player-facing experiences across Riot's titles, partnering with game developers, central tech groups, and regional teams in Korea. What You'll Do
- Team Leadership & People Management: Manage a team of 4–5 Software Engineers; coach, mentor, and support growth; own interviewing and onboarding; foster collaboration across Riot globally.
- Technical Leadership & Hands-on Involvement: Stay hands-on with technology, oversee technical design and deliverables, contribute to reviews, shape technical vision and roadmap, ensure long-term sustainability of the team's products.
- Execution & Cross-functional Collaboration: Lead breakdown and execution of multi-month projects; align with Product Leads, Delivery Leads, and Engineering/QA Leads within the team and across Meta Game Services and Publishing Platform; drive consistency in tech standards and tooling. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years experience as a Software Engineer, including hands-on delivery of live or shipped web applications.
- 2+ years experience directly leading an engineering team (Engineering Manager or Technical Lead).
- Deep front-end expertise with TypeScript/JavaScript, React, CSS-in-JS, and Next.js.
- Extensive back-end experience with Java and Spring Boot; strong fundamentals in software engineering and scalable systems; experience with RESTful APIs and event-driven microservices.
- Proven track record of improving engineering discipline, documentation, design processes, MVP-driven approaches, and full product lifecycle from design to deployment and operations.
- Able to clearly communicate technical concepts across disciplines and to recruit and grow engineers; on-call/live service operations experience; Korean fluency and English proficiency. Nice to Have
- Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GCP) with containers/Kubernetes and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
- CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Netlify).
- Relational databases (MySQL).
