About this role

What you'll do

  • As Manager, Risk & Insurance, you’ll join Giga’s Risk & Insurance team and help run the insurance program across all Giga business lines and entities. You’ll support the corporate insurance portfolio across Property & Casualty and Management Liability lines, along with coverage for the full data center lifecycle: construction-phase coverage (Builder’s Risk, OCIPs, contractor risk transfer) and operational-phase coverage for live facilities (property, business interruption, cyber, and technology E&O). You’ll also stand up the procedures, tools, and reporting that let a lean team keep pace with a business that is scaling quickly.

Where you'll work

This role is ideally based in our San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston offices, with full-time onsite expectations outside of bi-weekly WFH Fridays.

That said, we will make exceptions for truly exceptional talent if you live outside one of our hubs. If you're the right person for this role, we'll have a conversation about what works.

Responsibilities

  • Insurance program management

  • Support the business day to day on coverage questions, contract reviews, and certificate requests

  • Support the placement, renewal, and administration of corporate and project-level programs across Property & Casualty and management liability lines: Builder’s Risk, OCIP/wrap-up, General Liability, Umbrella/Excess, Workers’ Compensation, Auto, Marine Cargo / Stock Throughput, Property/BI, Tech E&O, Cyber, Professional Liability, D&O, and Crime

  • Build underwriting submissions and maintain exposure data, including TIV and project schedules, payroll and class code data, loss runs, and financials

  • Analyze large volumes of exposure, premium, and claims data to inform placement strategy, identify trends and coverage gaps, and support catastrophe modeling inputs

  • Work day to day with brokers and carriers on submissions, premium audits, policy tracking, and claims

  • Construction and operational phases

  • Support insurance structure across each stage of a data center buildout

  • Partner with project management, health & safety, and site teams on risk engineering and loss control

  • Contracts and risk transfer

  • Review insurance, indemnity, and risk-of-loss provisions in customer, lease, supply, vendor, and subcontractor agreements, and work with Legal and the business on redlines and coverage guidance

  • Review and track certificates of insurance, endorsements, and additional insured requirements for subcontractors, vendors, and counterparties

  • Support lender, landlord, and customer insurance diligence requests

  • Processes, reporting, and claims

  • Stand up and document procedures for COI collection and compliance tracking, contract review, new project insurance intake, and incident and claim reporting

  • Build and maintain reporting that gives leadership a clear view of premiums, limits, deductibles, claims history, renewals, open items, and project insurance costs

  • Support claims from first notice through resolution, including coordination with brokers, carriers, and outside counsel

  • Bonding support

  • Provide underwriting information and supporting documentation to the bonding team and surety broker partners

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of experience in corporate risk management, insurance brokerage, underwriting, or a related field, with exposure across Property & Casualty and management liability lines

  • Data-centric mindset and comfort analyzing large volumes of data

  • Strong Excel and AI skills, including using AI tools to analyze data, review documents, and automate recurring workflows

  • Strong contract review skills

  • Experience managing subcontractor insurance and surety compliance

  • Experience in data centers, construction, infrastructure, or energy (strongly preferred)

  • Comfort making sound judgment calls with incomplete information in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to work with Legal, Finance, Project Management, Construction, Engineering, H&S, and IT

  • CPCU or ARM designation is a plus
