About the Role Ball Corporation is seeking a Manager, Plant Production to lead the Goodyear, AZ plant production function, providing leadership to plant personnel and direct support to all departments. The role includes ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in a 24/7 manufacturing environment and supporting the development and continuous improvement of the food safety system in line with Ball Packaging Operations’ standards.
What You'll Do
- Lead and coordinate the activities of the production function, directing work to meet safety, quality, and cost targets.
- Maintain a safe work environment: correct unsafe acts/conditions, facilitate monthly safety meetings, perform safety inspections, and investigate accidents as required.
- Support development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the food safety system.
- Ensure process quality aligns with Ball Packaging Operations’ standards and drive safety, quality, and cost-reduction improvements.
- Direct and assist with developmental or experimental production activities.
- Maintain positive relations with the local bargaining unit (if applicable) to sustain productivity.
- Initiate, review, master, and follow all SOPs for areas of responsibility; manage data entry/retrieval from computer systems.
- May be responsible for environmental compliance and plant housekeeping.
- Foster an employee relations climate of trust with employees, union stewards, and representatives to support plant and company goals.
- Build effective relationships within the department, the division, the group, and the company; manage stress and maintain a positive work environment.
- Schedule may include weekends and require overtime/on-call as directed.
- Maintain environmental training, communicate with the emergency coordinator or Environmental Manager, and implement contingency plans as needed.
- Complete and maintain environmental documentation and report status to relevant parties.
- Comply with safety policies and procedures; minimize waste streams and ensure proper waste accumulation, storage, and regulatory compliance.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing; 4+ years of supervisory experience in an industrial setting.
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing or 24/7 manufacturing preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple demands and communicate effectively at all levels.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of production principles, practices, quality standards, company policies, and business/legal considerations.
- Ability to handle sensitive or proprietary information confidentially.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with customers and stakeholders.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $115,000 - $164,000 per year (USD).
