About the Role Amgen’s R&D Operations Logistics Manager leads strategies and procedures to enable an efficient scientific operating model and manages external partners through governance programs. The role focuses on staff development, operational improvement, issue management, and serving as the local point of contact for integrator and courier escalations related to R&D shipments. What You'll Do
- Lead global logistics for biospecimens, equipment, and devices including receiving, storage, shipment, tracking, and reconciliation to support clinical trial timelines.
- Ensure compliance with GCP, GLP, CLIA and applicable import/export regulations for regulated clinical trials.
- Manage vendor performance (bioanalytical laboratories and logistics suppliers) via defined KPIs, escalation, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for logistics processes impacting regulated clinical biospecimens, equipment, and devices.
- Oversee performance of logistics vendors and bioanalytical labs supporting clinical sample and reagent transport and storage.
- Establish and monitor logistics KPIs, service level expectations, and quality metrics.
- Lead issue escalation and drive continuous improvement; participate in R&D-wide initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
- Assist in the design and implementation of novel AI-driven logistics solutions for Amgen R&D commodities, including biospecimens, devices, and equipment.
- Collaborate with the Biospecimen Logistics Director and cross-functional teams to achieve global objectives. What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated leadership experience in logistics, operations management, and project management within a regulated environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to lead from the front and drive results.
- Practical expertise in operations management, project management, and shipping logistics; willingness to learn supplier management.
- Experience managing external vendors and laboratories with KPIs, issue escalation, and governance.
- Knowledge of GCP, GLP, CLIA and applicable import/export regulations for regulated clinical trials.
- Ability to translate data into actionable improvements; strong cross-functional collaboration and communication.
- Willingness to contribute to AI-driven logistics initiatives and process design. Nice to Have
- Experience with AI-driven logistics solutions and analytics for biospecimens, equipment, and devices.
- Biospecimen logistics or external vendor governance experience in an R&D setting.
