Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Manager Portfolio to join our Design Eng Processes team - CAT IT Division.
The preference for this role is to be based out of Bangalore – Caterpillar PSN
This position requires candidate to work a 5-day -a -week schedule.

The Information Technology Manager owns the core support and execution functions for the Enterprise Applications department within Caterpillar IT. This role is accountable for service performance, application strategy, investment prioritization, lifecycle planning, strategic vendor contracts, and leadership of a global Caterpillar team responsible for delivering these services. The application landscape includes multiple SAP instances and manufacturing, Order-to-Delivery, pricing, and other enterprise applications. This critical role ensures that end users receive efficient, reliable, and streamlined support. The role also leads the department’s continuous-improvement journey through initiatives that advance automation, monitoring, analytics, and overall application performance.
Job Duties:
- Own and drive incident, service-request, problem-resolution, and system-optimization activities across enterprise applications, ensuring delivery against commitments, service-level agreements, and expected outcomes.
- Establish, monitor, and continuously improve standard work; track performance, risks, dependencies, and application health; and communicate insights effectively to stakeholders and leadership.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary organization that delivers business and technical solutions across process functionality, application capabilities, and automation.
- Partner with business units and decision-makers to prioritize demand, support day-to-day operations, resolve incidents and problems, and drive continuous service improvement.
- Implement and govern common operating procedures, controls, review practices, and metrics to strengthen quality, compliance, operational resilience, and value realization.
- Develop and maintain control plans for key initiatives, defining governance, milestones, performance measures, risks, dependencies, decision points, and corrective actions to ensure sustainable outcomes.
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing IT teams while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and results-oriented work environment.
- Balance competing priorities and business requirements, maintain multiyear roadmaps, and develop enterprise solutions with differentiated capabilities where appropriate.
- Develop and manage the IT budget, resource plan, and technology investments for the area of accountability.
- Deliver highly available, leading IT services through best-in-class service-level practices that adapt to changing business demands.
What You Will Have:
- Organizational Leadership: Knowledge of leadership principles and the ability to use effective strategies and skills to engage others in setting, embracing, and achieving objectives.
- Functional and technical knowledge of SAP.
- Generative AI-Assisted Development or Support: Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot or automated agent workflows, to accelerate application development and support, reduce cost and effort, and optimize service delivery.
- Experience managing contracts and strategic vendor relationships.
- A background in Lean practices or continuous improvement.
- The ability to translate between technical and business language, creating an effective bridge between the support organization and the Caterpillar businesses it serves.
- Leadership experience within an IT organization.
- Experience governing a broad application landscape, including strategic planning, prioritization, lifecycle oversight, demand management, risk assessment, and investment optimization.

- Ability to lead, analyze, and apply a broad perspective to technology and related solutions, supported by a comprehensive understanding of application architectures, interfaces, security, and data-governance policies and procedures.

- Experience leading teams within and outside the discipline to address complex problems, including teams distributed across multiple locations and satellite offices.
- Strong stakeholder-management and executive-communication skills.
- Ability to assess application health, identify opportunities to rationalize or modernize solutions, and communicate investment recommendations, risks, and business value to senior leaders.
People Leadership / Scope Directly lead IT managers, technology specialists, information systems specialists, business managers, and application, technical, and operations teams within the division. Drive performance management, coaching, succession planning, workforce and capability planning, and a culture of collaboration and accountability.
Additional Duties Perform other related duties as assigned to support organizational objectives.
Education / Experience: Requires a relevant master’s or graduate degree in computer science and 15 or more years of progressively responsible Information Services experience, including staff and supervisory assignments. Requires a general understanding of business operations, including one or more of the following areas: business processes, technical infrastructure, application development and support, major initiative delivery, and engineering applications. The incumbent must be able to provide strategic direction for managing staff, budgets, business plans, resource allocation, application lifecycles, technology investments, and two- to five-year Information Services roadmaps. The role requires the ability to collaborate across diverse departments and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. The incumbent must demonstrate a strong customer focus and sound business knowledge. The position also requires effective collaboration with integration partners, technology vendors, and managed service providers.
