About this role
As a Manager in Group Medical Underwriting, you will manage a team of medical underwriting professionals. You will oversee the adherence to policies and procedures, setting priorities, communicating key goals, tracking performance, and training team members to ensure success.
- Supervise the day-to-day team operations for the medical underwriting team.
- Manage the evaluation of individual employee medical underwriting requirements and risk selection on members of group accounts including new applicants, late plan entrants and benefit change requests during enrollment periods.
- Evaluate risks and determine approval or rejection on complex cases and second signoffs.
- Maintain knowledge on current and emerging medical underwriting practices and present on new trends/information to team.
- Responsible for administering medical underwriting rules and guidelines, application quality audits, and insurance laws and regulations.
- Provide training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and give honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
- Manage and enhance organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/o
