Job Description

The Manager: Products & Services is responsible for developing, driving and executing the MTN Fintech Eswatini Products & Services Strategy. The role provides end-to-end ownership of the Fintech product and services portfolio, from market insight, ideation and business case development through design, approval, launch, commercialization, optimization and retirement. The incumbent drives sustainable revenue growth, customer adoption, profitability, market leadership and financial inclusion across Mobile Money, payments, merchant solutions, remittances, collections and disbursements, savings, credit, virtual cards and emerging digital financial services.

The role identifies market opportunities, develops customer-centric value propositions, manages the innovation pipeline, leads product performance and establishes strategic partnerships across the Fintech ecosystem. It ensures that products meet customer, commercial, operational, technology, risk, compliance and regulatory requirements.

The Manager Products & Services reports to the Head: Fintech Channel & Commercial and leads the Products & Services team. The role maintains liaison with MTN Group Fintech, internal functional teams, regulators, financial institutions, government, merchants, enterprises, NGOs, technology partners and other ecosystem stakeholders, as required.

Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Portfolio Management

  • Develop and execute the MTN Fintech Services Products & Services Strategy, aligned with the overall business strategy and MTN Group Fintech direction.
  • Define, maintain and govern the product portfolio roadmap and prioritize initiatives based on strategic fit, customer value, commercial potential, risk and delivery capacity.
  • Conduct market intelligence, customer research and competitor analysis to identify market gaps, emerging trends and new revenue opportunities.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and recommend investment, optimization, repositioning or retirement decisions.
  • Prepare product portfolio performance reports and strategic recommendations for leadership and governance forums.

Product Innovation, Development & Lifecycle Management

  • Lead product ideation, design, development, testing, launch, optimization and retirement across the full product lifecycle.
  • Develop Product Concept Documents, Business

Requirements

  • Documents, business cases, financial models and implementation plans for new products and enhancements.
  • Maintain a prioritized innovation pipeline and sponsor pilots, proofs of concept and controlled market trials.
  • Coordinate cross-functional delivery across Technology, Operations, Customer Experience, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Marketing and Channel teams.
  • Ensure thorough User Acceptance Testing, operational readiness, customer support readiness and post-implementation reviews before and after launch.
  • Drive continuous product enhancements informed by customer feedback, service performance, transaction behaviour and market developments.

Commercialization, Revenue Growth & Performance

  • Develop and execute product commercialization, go-to-market, pricing and value proposition strategies.
  • Drive product revenue, transaction value, transaction volume, active customer growth, utilization and profitability.
  • Lead product-specific acquisition, activation, engagement, retention and usage initiatives in collaboration with Channel, Marketing and Customer Value Management teams.
  • Monitor actual product performance against business cases, budgets and agreed KPIs, and implement corrective action where required.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve unit economics, customer value and portfolio contribution to EBITDA.

Ecosystem & Strategic Partnership Development

  • Identify, evaluate and develop strategic partnerships with banks, fintechs, merchants, aggregators, government, enterprises, NGOs and technology providers.
  • Lead product-related commercial assessments, partner negotiations, solution design and business case development.
  • Drive merchant, enterprise and government integrations that expand product reach and increase ecosystem transactions.
  • Monitor partner delivery and commercial performance against contractual obligations and agreed service levels.

Customer Experience, Insights & Value Management

  • Ensure customer needs are embedded in product design, customer journeys, propositions and service improvements.
  • Analyse product usage, customer behaviour, transaction trends, complaints and customer feedback to identify growth and experience opportunities.
  • Develop customer segmentation and product adoption insights to support targeted lifecycle, retention and usage interventions.
  • Partner with Customer Experience and Operations teams to improve product accessibility, usability, service reliability and customer satisfaction.

Product Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure all products comply with applicable legal, regulatory, AML/CFT/CPF, consumer protection, data privacy, information security and operational risk requirements.
  • Coordinate product risk assessments and obtain the required governance and regulatory approvals before launch.
  • Maintain complete and current product documentation, controls, operating procedures and approval records.
  • Manage product-related audit and compliance findings, remediation actions and post-launch risks to closure.
  • Ensure transparent product terms, pricing, customer communication and fair customer outcomes.

People & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Lead, coach and develop the Products & Services team, setting clear objectives and creating a high-performance and accountable culture.
  • Build effective working relationships across MTN Fintech Eswatini, MTN Group Fintech and relevant OpCo functions.
  • Represent Products & Services in leadership, project, governance and partner forums.
  • Provide timely, data-driven product updates, strategic recommendations and decision papers to management.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Commerce, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Strategy, Finance, Innovation, Fintech, Marketing or Digital Transformation is an advantage.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in Product Management, Fintech, Digital Financial Services, Payments, Banking, Telecommunications or Financial Services.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a managerial or people leadership role.
  • Proven experience in product strategy, product lifecycle management, business case development and commercialization.
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, customer adoption, product performance and portfolio optimization.
  • Experience in strategic partnership development and cross-functional programme delivery.
  • Experience working in a regulated financial services environment and within a global or multinational enterprise is preferred.
