About this role
GreenShield is seeking a Manager, Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting (Hybrid) to lead the organization’s financial reporting, consolidation, and technical accounting functions. Based in Toronto or Windsor, Ontario, this role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and IFRS compliance of financial statements, oversees regulatory reporting and financial planning activities, manages expense processes, and serves as the primary liaison for external audits. The Manager provides leadership to the finance team, drives continuous improvement, and supports strategic financial initiatives, reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting & Enterprise Expenses.
- Lead the preparation, consolidation, and reporting of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, including variance analysis against plans and oversight of internal controls.
- Manage regulatory reporting requirements and coordinate responses to regulatory changes in partnership with Risk and Compliance.
- Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and support audit processes and deliverables.
- Lead technical accounting activities, including research, policy development, and implementation of new IFRS standards.
- Oversee financial planning processes, including multi-year plans, annual operating plans, forecasts, and budgets.
- Manage shared services accounting and cost allocation methodologies to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Provide financial guidance and support to business units and act as a key cross-functional partner.
- Prepare and present financial reports and insights to senior leadership, Board Committees, and the Audit Committee.
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members while driving process improvements and contributing to Finance’s strategic objectives.
What we’re looking for:
- A CPA designation supported by a degree in Accounting, Business, or a similar discipline.
- Five or more years of leadership experience overseeing a finance team and/or serving in a controller capacity.
- Competence in current accounting principles and guidelines, and all relevant legislation and governance requirements.
- Experience creating complex accounting note disclosures under IFRS.
- Knowledge of corporate and commodity taxation.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to discern priorities and critical accountabilities.
- Experience leading projects or tasks requiring cross-functional integration.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with diverse groups; a results drive balanced with an appreciation for organizational structures and processes; thrives in a collaborative, challenging team environment.
- Highly developed planning, organizing, and negotiating skills; capable of managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing priorities.
