About this role

Manager, Credit Risk

Join the Houston Credit Risk team within Macquarie’s Risk Management Group, partnering closely with the Commodity Markets and Finance business to provide independent risk oversight across energy and commodity transactions. You will apply your credit expertise and commercial judgment to support responsible business growth across a diverse portfolio of counterparties, financing structures, and physical and financial commodity products.

We are a global financial services group operating in 30 markets with 57 years of unbroken profitability. At Macquarie, you’re empowered to shape a career that is fulfilling and creates value. You will bring your insights and expertise to the task at hand and feel supported as you make your own kind of impact for a better future.

What role will you play?

You will manage the credit risk of a diverse portfolio of counterparties across the energy and commodities sectors, conducting quantitative and qualitative assessments to evaluate creditworthiness and monitor existing exposures. You will review lending, trading, hedging, physical commodity, project finance, and structured financing transactions, preparing clear recommendations on credit approvals, limits, and internal risk ratings. Working closely with front office and risk stakeholders, you will provide independent challenge and practical recommendations that balance commercial objectives with Macquarie’s risk appetite. You will also contribute to ongoing portfolio monitoring and annual credit reviews, identifying emerging risks and supporting timely risk decisions throughout the transaction lifecycle.

What you offer

  • 3–5 years of experience in credit risk or a related discipline, such as commercial banking, corporate credit, energy lending, project finance, commodity trading risk, or structured finance.
  • Strong financial analysis skills, including the ability to evaluate financial statements, business performance, industry dynamics, and other factors affecting creditworthiness.
  • Sound judgment in identifying and evaluating key risks across counterparties, transactions, and structured financings, with the ability to anticipate potential challenges.
  • Experience preparing written credit analysis and making recommendations regarding approvals, credit limits, and internal risk ratings.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to partner effectively with front office colleagues while maintaining independent risk oversight.

We love hearing from anyone inspired to build a better future with us, if you're excited about the role or working at Macquarie we encourage you to apply.
