A fast-growing cross-border tax practice in Toronto is seeking an exceptional Manager, Corporate Services to lead engagements and contribute to the growth of our client-focused tax services. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking to deliver practical tax solutions for a diverse portfolio of clients while driving the evolution of our practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead client engagements across multiple jurisdictions, delivering strategic tax solutions and high-quality service.
- Manage and review complex tax engagements for a variety of client profiles, ensuring technical accuracy and timely deliverables.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop tax professionals, fostering growth and ensuring the delivery of outstanding client service.
- Critically review financial statements, tax returns, supporting documentation, and technical analyses to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for further consideration.
- Interpret complex tax legislation and translate technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively to build trust and provide practical tax guidance, supporting client decisions and firm objectives.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support the ongoing expansion and evolution of the practice; maintain thorough documentation and deliverables with a focus on accuracy.
- Stay informed about developments in tax law and industry practices to provide timely and relevant advice.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, plus a professional designation such as CPA, CPA CA, Master of Taxation, LL.M. (Taxation), Juris Doctor (JD), Enrolled Agent (EA), or significant progress toward completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program.
- In-depth technical expertise in personal taxation, tax compliance, and tax research, with demonstrated experience managing and reviewing complex tax engagements across multiple client profiles.
- Proven leadership experience in supervising, mentoring, and developing tax professionals while delivering high-quality client service.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to critically review financial statements, tax returns, supporting documentation, and technical analyses.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of interpreting complex tax legislation and translating it into practical guidance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust and convey complex tax concepts clearly to clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with CCH Axcess Tax, CCH iFirm TaxPrep, or similar tax software is an asset.
- A proactive, adaptable, client-focused mindset, capable of managing competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and implement practical solutions.
