Job title: Manager Construction

About the Role Manage all aspects of construction and commissioning of cement plant projects in the USA, with values from $500k to several million, ensuring safe and timely delivery and operation.

What You'll Do

• Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor execution, and summarize progress of projects.
• Monitor contractor and vendor progress and evaluate/approve invoices for payment.
• Interface with and address ongoing design issues and RFIs within the company’s engineering and construction teams.
• Review and approve vendor and engineering drawings as needed.
• Coordinate contractor activities with plant operations.
• Prepare reports for management on status of construction activities including cost and schedule.
• During commissioning, supervise and/or coordinate engineering and construction contractors and internal staff to stabilize normal operation of installations.
• Coordinate with other areas in a team to identify, address and timely solve problems.
• Maintain a safe workplace and strive for zero occupational injuries, accidents and environmental incidences.

What We're Looking For

• At least 7 years of experience in construction management, preferably in the cement industry.
• Strong safety focus; MSHA Certification required (or must obtain within a reasonable period).
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written); ability to interface with multiple departments and governmental agencies; maintain confidentiality.
• Strong supervisory experience and ability to manage costs, budgets and multiple projects/contractors.
• Proficiency with construction drawings, specifications, and project documents; computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD.

Working Conditions Occasional exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and outdoor work. Must wear protective equipment while at the location.

Physical Requirements Walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree. Heavy work—exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to communicate with employees/visitors and to function safely around heavy rolling equipment. Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but are not limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls.
