Cargo Operations is seeking an individual with proven leadership experience and a high level of accountability for creating unforgettable customer experiences to join our team as a Manager, JFK Cargo Operations. The successful candidate will lead a diverse team of professionals, including Cargo employees, administrative support personnel, and business partners. The candidate must be a composed, approachable, and visible leader with the skill to build high-performing teams through inclusion, consensus and creativity. Managers of Cargo Operations often serve as the top-ranking Delta representative in their hub, responsible for driving safety improvements, strengthening our strategy around service recovery, enhancing the customer experience through differentiated, world-class service, and managing a large operation during high-stress situations. This position reports directly to the General Manager of JFK CGO Operations.
- Responsible for driving and managing the complex day-to-day JFK Cargo, Mail and Logistics operation and leads a team of frontline and merit employees
- Facilitates the implementation and acceptance of change within the workplace
- Develops both strategic and tactical plans that create a safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and wellbeing
- Responsible for ensuring that hub goals are met or exceeded
- Responsible for providing leadership to direct reports supporting teams and the operation
- Develops strategic plans which include strategy development, plan development and execution
- Makes actionable recommendations based on the data, and prioritizes improvements based on their ability to drive ROI, monitor fixes and follow through on post implementation results
- Responsible for development and execution of both the operating and capital plans for the given area of responsibility and further responsible for achieving those financial objectives
- Leads through demonstration of Delta's core values as outlined in the Rules of the Road
- Communicates a compelling view of the organization's purpose and value in a way that helps others understand the importance and impact of their contributions; advocates for others
- Works with team members to develop specific behaviors, skills or knowledge needed to ensure sustained performance and to prepare for success in new responsibilities
- Maintains and establishes cross-divisional partnerships with Maintenance, ACS, Flight Operations, Human Resources, Delta Technology, GSE, Properties and Facilities, Finance, Contractors and Process Engineering teams in a strategic manner to achieve key performance targets
- Ensures a smooth, safe and secure operation while modeling Deltas vision and values
- Responsible for all environmental and EPA standards, regulations and compliance requirements
- Develops annual strategy plans for revenue targets, OJI improvements, productivity measurements, team building and succession planning
- Provides strategic leadership and promotes team building through motivational and directional coaching
- Must cultivate an environment of positive employee relations
- Has oversight of non-Delta personnel operations such as contractors/business partners
- Maintains and partners with contractual agencies, and security
- Resolves issues for customers regarding service failures or other complaints
- Makes sound decisions with positive results
- Demonstrates high level of customer focus, finding win-win solutions for the customer and Delta

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
- At least 5 years of experience in leadership positions
- High standards of performance for self and others with the ability to guide others in adhering to these standards
- Should have a thorough knowledge of Delta cargo operational procedures and policies
- Ability to identify, evaluate and refine functional results to improve the customer experience and operational performance
- Strong organizational skills
- Multi-tasking skills with the ability to make quick, prudent decisions
- Possess initiative, a high tolerance for stress, and the ability to solve complex problems
- Flexibility and personal stamina are required in order to sustain long working hours in a constantly changing environment
- Able to travel as necessary
- Must be performing satisfactorily in current position
- Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data
- Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have authorization to work in the United States
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related fields, or at least 5 years of relevant leadership experience
- Previous experience navigating a matrixed environment
- Previous experience managing Cargo, Above Wing and/or Below Wing operations
- Knowledge of airline industry and cargo operations is strongly preferred
