Job title: Manager, Building & Engineering
About the Role Insomniac is seeking a Manager, Building & Engineering to oversee infrastructure planning for festivals and large-scale events. This role partners with production teams to ensure engineering integrity and compliance, reporting to the VP, Building & Engineering. This is an onsite position based in Calabasas, CA (not remote).
What You'll Do
- Manage infrastructure planning for festival and large-scale events
- Partner with production teams on site builds, ensuring engineering integrity and compliance
- Ensure compliance with installation and teardown of temporary systems; conduct site inspections and risk assessments before, during and after events
- Source, hire, and manage contractors, engineers and various vendors; manage scope of work, budgets, timelines and performance
- Ensure all vendors adhere to Insomniac safety and operational standards; maintain permits, inspections and certifications; develop and enforce safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and incident reporting
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement; partner closely with Production, HR, Legal, Operations and other teams; support new venue builds, renovations, and special projects; partner with sustainability teams on energy efficiency and environmental initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Experience in festival and large-scale event infrastructure planning and on-site builds
- Ability to partner with production teams on site builds, ensuring engineering integrity and compliance with local, state, and federal building codes, fire codes and OSHA standards
- Experience with permits, inspections, certifications, safety training, risk assessments, and incident reporting
- Vendor & contractor management, sourcing, hiring, budgets, timelines and performance
- Strong collaboration and cross-functional communication skills; ability to work with Production, HR, Legal, Operations and other teams

- Experience collaborating with sustainability teams on energy efficiency and environmental initiatives
