Job title: Manager, Appian & RPA Development

About the Role Sompo seeks a Manager, Appian & RPA Development to lead a team of developers working on Appian and UI Path platforms. You will provide technical leadership, define roadmaps, and oversee new solutions as well as enhancements, serving as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders across multiple offices.

What You'll Do

• Set comprehensive technology direction and roadmaps for Appian and UI Path Platforms that enable stakeholder needs, aligned with Sompo guidelines and marketplace direction.
• Lead the team on the Appian platform and automating processes using UI-Path; ensure high-quality deliverables, adhere to best practices, and mentor team members in an agile environment.
• Manage development activities for the full project lifecycle; partner with IT leaders for testing, requirements and integration needs.
• Plan, control and oversee staffing of technical employees and consultants, optimizing internal vs. external resources to meet SLAs and budget.
• Define and implement metrics; provide management reports for the teams’ deliverables; maintain capacity profiles for proactive demand management and on-time delivery.
• Evolve the Appian and UI Path platforms and related infrastructure/architecture to support growth and ongoing operations.
• Perform hands-on design, development, and support activities with emphasis on feature-rich design, usability, and site performance.
• Establish strong relationships with internal customers, other IT units, and external vendors; collaborate with QA in testing to maintain quality.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders to improve efficiency and access to information through technology.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years in an Application Development Manager / Lead role with experience leading geographically distributed teams of 7+ employees/contractors.
• 5+ years of experience developing and implementing solutions on Appian; 5+ years of application design and development.
• Experience with SSO technologies; integrating Appian solutions with other systems.
• Experience delivering automation solutions with UI Path or a similar RPA platform.
• Proficiency with Appian and UI-Path tools (Appian Designer, Sites, Tempo, Admin Console; UI-Path Studio, Orchestrator, Robot, etc.).
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements; experience delivering technical design & architecture documentation.
• Experience with DevOps practices, code management tools, automated build setups, and deployment procedures.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, time management, and communication/presentation/organizational skills across IT and business users.
• Insurance industry experience with Guidewire or integration to Guidewire is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, mathematics or related field strongly preferred.

Nice to Have

• Guidewire experience or familiarity with insurance tech integrations.

Compensation & Benefits
