Management Accountant

About the Role The Management Accountant is responsible for providing accurate and timely financial information to support internal decision-making and business planning. The role analyzes financial data, prepares budgets and forecasts, monitors costs, and provides variance analysis to help management optimize performance and achieve organizational goals. It also acts as a bridge between finance and operations to ensure financial strategies align with business objectives. What You'll Do

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including income statements, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure accuracy of journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and intercompany charges.
• Reconcile statement of financial position accounts on a monthly basis.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting: annual budgets, rolling forecasts, variance analysis.
• Monitor budget variances and provide analysis on causes; support scenario planning and financial modelling as required.
• Provide timely and accurate financial and operational reports; analyze results and KPIs; provide actionable insights; assess project performance and suggest actions.
• Conduct profitability analysis and support decision-making with financial data.
• Prepare ad-hoc reports for senior management.
• Cost Accounting & Control: analyze and monitor direct and indirect costs, overheads, and profitability by projects; monitor and control operational and production costs; support procurement and cost allocation; provide expenditure records to Project Leads; identify cost overruns and risks; suggest corrective actions; support pricing decisions through cost/margin analysis; implement cost-saving initiatives.
• Project Accounting & Project Financial Management: set up and maintain Project Cost Centers/Accounts in ERP; monitor budgets, costs, revenues, margins, and cash flow; prepare regular project financial reports; collaborate with Project Managers to update budgets/forecasts.
• Billing & Revenue Recognition: generate client invoices based on contracts and milestones; ensure IFRS 15 revenue recognition; track WIP and deferred revenue.
• Inventory Valuation & Control: perform inventory valuations; reconcile counts to GL; investigate discrepancies; track variances; ensure WIP and finished goods accuracy.
• Internal Controls & Compliance: ensure compliance with policies and controls; assist audits; maintain contract/change order documentation.
• Systems & Process Improvement: leverage ERP systems (e.g., SAP) to streamline accounting and reporting; drive automation and accuracy improvements.
• Stakeholder Engagement: work with business unit leaders and non-finance teams to communicate performance and support planning; build relationships for financial transparency. What We're Looking For
• B.Sc. or HND in any discipline, plus ICAN ACA; ACCA or CIMA’s CGMA professional qualification
• Experience: 5 to 7 years of progressive work experience in Accounts/Finance
• Knowledge of ERP Systems (e.g., SAP ByD)
• Good knowledge of GAAP and IFRS
• Highly numerate with strong analytical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Power BI or other reporting tools
• Commercial awareness; ability to link financial data with business performance
• Strong problem-solving, results-oriented mindset
• Ability to work under pressure, in a team, and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain complex financial data to non-finance stakeholders
