Job title: Maintenance Worker - Roadway Litter & Debris Removal (M.O.T.)

About the Role You will be responsible for the removal of litter and debris and for the maintenance, servicing and repairs of roads and other infrastructure assets per contract standards. This role supports safe traffic management and requires operating vehicles and performing debris removal tasks to keep assets clean and functional.

What You'll Do

  • Create safe Maintenance of Traffic (M.O.T) control by setup and removal of traffic control devices including cones, message/arrow boards, temporary signage, etc.
  • Transport crew and equipment to work sites operating large trucks and specialized motor vehicles and trailers.
  • Remove road debris and litter from roadway, shoulders, facilities, docks, vessel landings, mooring berths, jetties, loading ramp areas, and parking areas; remove shopping carts and other foreign objects from client property.
  • Remove debris around stockpile locations and around accumulated foreign stockpiles dumped on client systems.
  • Remove dead animals in and around toll roads and facilities (Do not remove dead animals larger than 150 pounds or hazardous material—notify the client for removal).
  • Remove illegal signs or structures not erected or authorized by client.
  • Remove hazard/incident roadway debris and debris caused by high tide or winds; keep roadways free of debris.
  • Carry out all duties in line with Company policies and procedures as amended from time to time; perform other duties as assigned.
  • Be willing to respond within contractual guidelines and timeframes; comply with federal, state and local legal requirements; participate in 24/7 operations as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Safe work practices to avoid accidents and injuries; ability to recognize hazards and adjust accordingly.
  • Willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the job.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors (written or verbal).
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply/divide, percentages, measurements).
  • Ability to read, write and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work extensively to meet business needs; high attention to detail; ownership of responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in concrete, asphalt repair, construction and maintenance; skilled use and care of small hand power tools.
  • Ability to interface with the public in a professional manner.
  • Availability for 24/7 operations including holidays, nights, weekends, overtime, 2nd & 3rd shifts, and on-call duties.
