Job title: Maintenance Technician
About the Role Maintains, troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs plant equipment and machinery at the Ocala, FL facility. Performs building and machinery maintenance, manages hazardous materials, and helps ensure safety and production standards are met with minimal supervision.
What You'll Do
- Perform routine and scheduled preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment, machinery, and tools.
- Troubleshoot and correct mechanical and electrical problems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and machine operation manuals.
- Operate air and power hand tools; perform repairs while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Recognize and resolve unsafe conditions; follow all safety and environmental regulations and 5-S requirements.
- Estimate material needs for projects and repairs; fabricate or assemble production equipment as required.
- Maintain and update maintenance and tool records and safety checklists.
- Manage hazardous materials/waste, ensuring proper containers and adherence to Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan; know spill response procedures and evacuation routes.
- Work with a range of equipment used in emergency vehicle production (e.g., CNC Router, Edgebander, Omal Doweler, Paint Booths and ovens, press brakes, shears, CNC punch/mill/saws, sanders, vacuum forming, drill presses).
- Operate with minimal supervision, set priorities to meet production and maintenance goals, and foster cooperative working relationships.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to use common hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment; detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Able to develop technical solutions while minimizing cost and schedule impact.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds frequently, climb, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, stand for long periods, and walk long distances.
- Visual acuity to operate machines and perform mechanical tasks; exposure to typical on-site hazards.
- Forklift and scissor lift licenses required.
- Blood-borne pathogen training; familiarity with Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan and spill response procedures.
- Knowledge of Environmental Protection Division standards and safety/environmental requirements for facility-wide jobs.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in an automotive or heavy manufacturing environment (fire/rescue vehicle production preferred).
