Job title: Maintenance Technician
About the Role Maintenance Technician at Trouw Nutrition, Chilliwack, Nutreco company, plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability and safety of equipment by performing general maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repairs to support uninterrupted production.
What You'll Do
- Perform preventive maintenance and equipment inspections; complete Team PM tasks and work orders.
- Conduct basic electrical and boiler maintenance.
- Fabricate and install new equipment or systems as required.
- Enforce safety procedures (hot work, confined space, lockout/tagout).
- Schedule downtime with production for maintenance and repairs; maintain inventory and order spares.
- Fill out permits for tasks; ensure major expenditures are approved by Plant Manager.
- May assist with production tasks only after maintenance is complete and with approval.
- Operate in a unionized environment under the Canada - Grain and General Services Union (GSU) agreement.
What We're Looking For
- Millwright ticket or actively pursuing certification (asset).
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems and computerized work order platforms (e.g., Team PM).
- Ability with rotational shifts and overtime as required; ability to work in shifts.
- Physical ability to regularly bend, twist, climb ladders, open/close lids and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
- Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment; ability to participate in rotating on-call schedules.
Nice to Have
- Millwright certification (asset) and related experience.
- Experience with maintenance management software/tools (e.g., Team PM).
