Job title: Maintenance Technician
About the Role The Maintenance Technician performs maintenance and repair work on electrical and/or mechanical installations and equipment within a production environment to ensure safe, timely, and specification-compliant operation. The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance and may support other facilities (R&D labs, offices, utilities) as needed. Depending on facility size and skills, the role may be discipline-specific or require a broad, all-round capability to troubleshoot and resolve issues across multiple technical areas.
What You'll Do
- Conduct inspections and preventive/planned maintenance on handling equipment, pneumatic/mechanical/electrical systems, silos, grinding, mixing and pressing lines, bag filling, and related processes according to maintenance schedules and checklists.
- Restore defects and perform corrective maintenance, reporting potential flaws with details and proposing solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Order and track spare parts and materials; perform planned maintenance activities of greater complexity (including during maintenance stops); may supervise third-party technicians.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions and defects in equipment, control systems and transport systems; assess severity and decide whether immediate repair is necessary; carry out emergency repairs or prepare for scheduled repairs.
- Perform modifications, overhauls and improvements based on work orders; consult with management on quality and technical issues; disassemble/assemble components and replace parts as needed; may fabricate components from drawings.
- Log all maintenance activities in the maintenance management system to maintain complete records of equipment state and history.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures; flag hazardous situations and take appropriate action to prevent incidents.
- Collaborate with colleagues and, where required, supervise third-party technicians; support other facilities as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Technical background in electrical or mechanical disciplines, with ability to work across related technical areas; experience in maintenance of production equipment and facilities.
- Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis; ability to interpret drawings, plans and maintenance instructions.
- Proficiency with disassembly/assembly, parts replacement, and basic techniques (welding, lathe, plate work, machining).
- Strong problem-solving skills, good communication, and the ability to work in teams; ability to coordinate with supervisors and other technicians.
- Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance; willingness to participate in planned maintenance stops and cross-functional activities.
Nice to Have
- Versatility to handle more than one major technical discipline; ability to troubleshoot across electrical, mechanical, rotating and other related areas.
- Experience supervising third-party technicians or external contractors.
