Job title: Maintenance Technician
About the Role Fortune Brands Innovations is seeking a Maintenance Technician to repair and maintain production machinery and plant systems, ensuring equipment safety, availability and reliability across operations. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, installation, and collaboration with engineers to optimize processes.
What You'll Do
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Support operations and facility to ensure equipment safety, availability and reliability.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair production equipment including electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Proactively identify operating difficulties and collaborate with the maintenance engineer to develop and implement process or equipment changes.
- Install and modify production and facilities equipment using layouts, diagrams, schematics, etc.
- Maintain working knowledge of plant systems, infrastructure and utilities.
- Use drawings and schematics to assemble machines and troubleshoot existing systems.
- Apply advanced understanding of machine controls to troubleshoot and repair, review logic, and collaborate with controls engineer.
- Identify and request replacement parts and equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and project work orders in accordance with processes (safety, equipment, materials).
- Conduct repair work with fabrication skills using manual machine shop equipment (lathes, end mills), welding, soldering, plasma cutting, sheet metal brake, and band saw.
- Maintain continuity within maintenance through documentation and communication across shifts.
- Complete facilities project work, including planning, material orders, and execution.
- Mentor and train lower-level maintenance personnel.
- Work effectively with limited supervision and in a team.
- Complete required paperwork promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/experience: Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in maintenance-related field with a minimum of five (5) years related experience preferred. Electrical license preferred. Compliance: Associates must not have been removed from or voluntarily stepped down from a bid in the preceding 12 months; no written disciplinary warnings within six (6) months; cannot have less than 16 UTO hours; must meet minimum qualifications on the job bid. Training: Selected associates will receive training to perform requirements, including processes and computer requirements. Other: A 90-day probationary period applies to all job postings.
What We're Looking For
- Associate’s degree or equivalent in a maintenance-related field with at least 5 years of related experience (preferred).
- Electrical license (preferred).
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems; working knowledge of plant systems and controls.
- Ability to read and interpret diagrams, schematics, and layouts; proficient in machine assembly and modification.
- Advanced understanding of machine controls and PLCs; ability to review logic and collaborate with controls engineers.
- Fabrication skills including welding, soldering, machining (lathe, end mills), plasma cutting, sheet metal work, and related equipment.
- Effective communication, documentation, and teamwork; capable of mentoring others and working with limited supervision.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and process improvement.
Nice to Have
- Electrical license (preferred).
- Experience working in a manufacturing/industrial environment with proactive maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to implement process changes.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $72,820 – $84,656 per year.
