Job title: Maintenance Technician
About the Role This safety-sensitive role supports maintenance on power generation equipment at the Willis, TX site. The technician performs routine maintenance, is available for unscheduled call-outs, and may be filled at several operator/technician levels depending on experience. Responsibilities include machining, alignment, welding, electrical/instrument work, contractor management during outages, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
What You'll Do
- Perform routine maintenance and operate machine tools (Bridgeport and lathe) for machining and alignment; welding and other multi-skill tasks as needed.
- Manage contractors, quality, cost, and schedules during unit outages; perform inspections and repairs on electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and diagnose equipment problems; monitor turbine generators and large pumps; ensure safety practices in accordance with Entergy policies.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Maintenance Operator II: 0-2 years; III: 2-3; Operator: 3; Mechanical Technician: 5+ years in power plant operations/maintenance.
- Journeyman Machinist/Millwright with primary skill (minimum 5 years; 10 years preferred).
- Understanding of mechanical/electronic tools, instruments, controls, gauges, and piping systems; knowledge of steam boilers, turbine-generators, motors, pumps, heaters, water chemistry equipment, and simple loop controls.
- Strong written and verbal communication; basic writing skills; ability to operate a PC.
- Certificate: Successful completion of the EEI POSS/MASS test.
Nice to Have
- Outage experience and contractor oversight.
- Welding experience.
- Prior power plant or industrial facility experience.
