Job title: Maintenance Technician
About the Role
The Maintenance Technician will install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and electrical systems across Bachoco USA facilities to support safe, efficient poultry production.
What You'll Do
- Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
- Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose and repair issues.
- Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
- Repair and maintain the physical structure of the establishment.
- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
- Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Set eggs in the incubator if needed.
- Maintain chick trailers including fans, lights, globes, heater and chiller.
- Operate Automation Equipment, if needed.
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
What We're Looking For
- Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills: Must have basic computer skills.
- Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Work Environment: Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
