Job title: Maintenance Technician
About the Role As a Maintenance Technician at ALS Global, you will independently perform repairs, routine maintenance and troubleshooting for lab and process equipment. This role covers mechanical maintenance, lab instrument repair, minor electrical work, plumbing and carpentry, and reporting to the department director. You will contribute to safe, compliant operations in a 24/7 environment.
What You'll Do
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of equipment such as crushers, grinders, compressors, air heat exchangers, furnaces and heating systems
- Maintain and repair lab equipment
- Plumbing and carpentry
- Minor electrical work
- Provide reports to the department director
- Ensure correct application of products and methods
- Follow all lab safety rules for sample preparation
- Contribute to department preparation production
- Other tasks as assigned by the director or supervisors
What We're Looking For
- Strong knowledge in mechanical systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proficiency in French (spoken and written) with knowledge of English
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Education: Diploma or certificate in electrical and industrial mechanical
- 5 years of experience in general repair of laboratory equipment
- Good experience in carpentry, plumbing and painting
- 1 year of experience in a sample preparation environment
- Forklift experience and/or certification a plus
- First aid certification a plus
