Job title: Maintenance Technician 1 and 2, Residential

About the Role The Maintenance Technician, Residential role maintains the renovated Fenn Tower and Euclid Commons Residence Halls. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair general carpentry, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant building operations.

What You'll Do

  • Perform complex preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on general carpentry, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostics to inspect systems and manage emergency repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and parts inventory; collaborate with other trades and outside vendors.
  • Ensure buildings operate safely and in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in coordinating with CSU staff and document work performed.

What We're Looking For

  • Maintenance Technician 1: High school diploma or equivalent; experience in general maintenance, carpentry, residential home repair, construction, or related field; ability to lift 50 pounds; ability to climb and work from ladders or lifts; ability to work second shift, weekends, and on-call; valid driver's license and maintain driving eligibility.
  • Maintenance Technician 2: High school diploma or equivalent; three years of relevant experience; Fall Protection Certification or ability to obtain within one year; Asbestos O&M Certification and Confined Space Certification or ability to obtain within one year (Building Operations Dept); ability to lift 50 pounds; ability to climb; ability to work weekends and on-call; valid driver's license and driving eligibility.

Nice to Have

  • OSHA or similar safety certifications.
  • Maintenance or repair experience in institutional or industrial environments; welding experience.
  • For Tech 2: experience with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems (EMS); technical certification in carpentry, mechanical, electrical, or plumbing.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: not disclosed; Salary Grade 08, Hiring Range /Pay Rate to be determined by CSU; annualized pay as per classified staff policies.
