Job title: Maintenance Tech

About the Role The Maintenance Tech performs maintenance and repair services for assigned University facilities, including installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service (preventative and emergency service), and repair of facility systems in alignment with organizational procedures, best practices, and safety standards. This role ensures safe, compliant, and reliable campus facilities to enable teaching, student life, and campus operations.

What You'll Do

  • Perform skilled maintenance following established procedures for inspection and repair of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Perform semi-skilled preventive and routine maintenance and alteration of campus buildings and facilities; prepare work sites and return them to usable condition after inspections.
  • Respond to preventive and corrective work orders to ensure consistent facility and utility system operations.
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of major building systems infrastructure in assigned facilities.
  • Comply with life safety practices and safety regulations while carrying out work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 2 years’ related experience preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Qualifications in one or more of the following areas (preferred): computer control systems for HVAC; refrigeration systems; boilers and related equipment; air conditioning machinery and auxiliary equipment; institutional/restaurant kitchen equipment; electrical power distribution, emergency electrical systems, and electrical control systems; plumbing; carpentry (including painting, drywall repair).
  • Relevant certifications in building systems (HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical/plumbing, electrical) or safety (industrial, OSHA, NFPA) preferred.
  • Clear, direct, effective communication; excellent customer service.
  • Proficiency with basic computer programs and willingness to learn new software; ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting; willingness to be trained for specific skilled trade; knowledge of safe work practices and regulatory requirements; general technological proficiency.
