Job title: Maintenance Mechanic
About the Role The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for effectively and efficiently maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment, as well as performing preventive maintenance following corporate standards for quality and safety.
What You'll Do
- Demonstrate commitment to safety and quality and perform job duties in accordance with company safety policies and GMP guidelines
- Train other employees as directed or needed
- Communicate effectively with associated personnel in all phases of operation
- Operate cranes, trucks or motor vehicles, forklifts and/or powered industrial equipment
- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and plant equipment
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs during production and perform scheduled maintenance during machine service
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders; diagnose problems, replace/repair parts, test and adjust
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and facilities
- Use hand and power tools, meters and material handling equipment to perform duties
- Detect faulty operations and report unusual situations to supervision
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area
- Understand department communication systems, schedules, time/attendance, and reporting requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent; AA Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Maintenance
- Completion of a craft apprenticeship; 4+ years of manufacturing experience
- Mechanical, electrical and industrial skills; advanced knowledge of machine operations and mechanical functions
- Safety-sensitive position; ability to work overtime and weekends as required; rotating shift as needed
- Ability to read, write and understand English; ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, maintenance manuals, work orders and repair parts requests
- Ability to operate measuring equipment and to test and troubleshoot
- Ability to work in a production environment with moving equipment and people; effective in teams and with diverse roles
Nice to Have
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
- Prior experience in a packaging/manufacturing setting
Compensation & Benefits
- Wage range: $33.00-$40.00 per hour; wage based on experience
- Core hours 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday (mid-shift)
- Overtime may be required; advancement opportunities
