About this role
About the Role The Maintenance Mechanic I at Sonoco, located in Memphis on President Island, performs preventive and proactive maintenance to ensure safe, high-quality, and on-time production. You will work closely with the Plant Engineer or Maintenance Supervisor and fellow maintenance staff to keep equipment running and support continuous improvement. What You'll Do
- Install and maintain auxiliary equipment as required by production
- Maintain and repair utility and facility-related equipment as directed by the Plant Engineer
- Assist and train other maintenance personnel with repairs, PMs, and rebuilds
- Collaborate with other departments and teams for proactive problem resolutions
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area
- Manage small projects to maintain or upgrade equipment
- Perform all duties in support of Sonoco's quality and safety policies What We're Looking For
- Experience in an industrial environment or military experience troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining manufacturing equipment
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting, industrial and motor controls
- Comfortable with mechanical lifts, ladders, kneeling, bending and twisting; lifting up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable with overtime
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in an off shift position with rotating shifts that will require overtime including weekends Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $37.70 - $45.02 per hour
