Mainframe Developer

Location: Jacksonville, Florida (On-site)

Role Overview

This position is responsible for developing new system functionality, providing critical system maintenance, and implementing enhancements for essential Prime Brokerage and Professional Clearing applications. The selected professional will participate in the complete software development lifecycle on the IBM z/OS Mainframe platform, including analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation. This role also involves providing ongoing support for applications currently in production environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Create high-performance, mission-critical mainframe applications to support business operations.

• Analyze user requirements and translate them into functional software solutions.

• Ensure all developed software applications meet strict performance and security standards.

• Collaborate with other developers to design and deliver scalable, high-performance systems.

• Research new technologies and software development trends to improve existing systems.

• Provide technical support and troubleshoot system issues to ensure operational continuity.

• Write detailed technical documentation for software design and system configurations.

• Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field of study.

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in mainframe software development, with exposure to prime brokerage, settlements, clearing, margin, or risk applications.

Skills

• Expert proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2. Solid knowledge of mainframe tools and platforms including z/OS, z/VM, z/Linux, or IBM System z. Strong understanding of DevOps concepts and tools such as Jenkins and Git.

• Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within an Agile development environment using modern tooling such as IDz or CoPilot.

• Interest in expanding knowledge of IBM Mainframe technology, architecture, and the core components of the z/OS environment.

• Demonstrated technical and business leadership capabilities with a strong aspiration to learn new processes.

• Familiarity with structured change management and software roll-out processes.
