Machinist

About the Role Volt is immediately hiring Machinist in Chillicothe, IL. The Machinist will support a metallurgical testing laboratory by performing shop-floor machining tasks, following written instructions and blueprints. What You'll Do

• Perform saw cutting, grinding, polishing, and other machinist tasks on a shop floor.
• Follow written instructions and read blueprints.
• Work on a team providing machining support to a metallurgical testing laboratory.
• Operate equipment including abrasive cut-off saws, surface grinders, lathes, reciprocating mill, and large band saws.
• Maintain attention to detail and quality.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of staff in a professional lab environment, including supervisors and engineers.
• Be team-oriented, self-motivated, and flexible to weekends and overtime when needed.
• Shift: 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
• This is a Full Time, Contract opportunity. What We're Looking For
• Several years’ experience in a shop floor environment performing saw cutting, grinding, polishing and other machinist work.
• Ability to follow written instructions and read blueprints.
• Attention to detail and quality oriented.
• Experience operating abrasive cut-off saws, surface grinders, lathes, reciprocating mill, and large band saws.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with supervisors and engineers.
• Team oriented, self-motivated, and flexible for weekends and overtime.
• Ability to work in a professional lab environment. Nice to Have
• Experience in a metallurgical testing laboratory (lab support). Compensation & Benefits
• Salary: $21- $28 per hour.
• Shift: 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
