About the Role Sonoco is seeking a skilled Machinist in Hartsville, SC to operate and program machine shop equipment, including manual lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines. You will work with state-of-the-art technology and collaborate with mentors focused on continuous improvement. This full-time role offers swing shifts with potential overtime. What You'll Do
- Operate and program NC Mills and other machine shop equipment
- Set up machines and fixtures for individual parts
- Read standard and metric blueprints with GD&T
- Know speeds and feeds for various materials and tooling
- Inspect own parts using calipers, micrometers, depth mics, and scales
- Maintain safety and document actions across shifts
- Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years’ experience with manual lathes, mills, and grinders; thorough knowledge of machine shop equipment
- Knowledge of CNC equipment; NC Mill programming and setups preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and perform basic math/geometry; GD&T proficiency a plus
- Experience with Esprit or Mastercam preferred
- Able to work with minimal supervision and willing to overtime, including weekends/holidays
- Technical degree in Machine Shop preferred Nice to Have
- Experience programming with Esprit or Mastercam
- Strong fixture setup and optimization skills Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: Apprentice level at $27.40/hour
- Sign-on bonus: $2,000 ($1,000 after 90 days and $1,000 after 180 days)
- Swing shift: 6:00 AM–2:00 PM and 2:00 PM–10:00 PM; OT as needed
- Full-time, onsite position in Hartsville, SC
