Job title: Machinist I (Lathe Operator)

About the Role Machinist I (Lathe Operator) works under the direction of the Working Shop Supervisor to initiate machining processes, select tools, and set feeds and speeds for various materials. This role focuses on setup and operation of a manual lathe, safety, and meeting production targets.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain production rates according to established standards.
  • Notify Supervisor with any problems of procedures or equipment.
  • Perform set-ups and operate Manual Lathe Machine.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees.
  • Maintain high awareness of safety procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; 1 year of machine shop experience.
  • Job Specific Competencies: Capable of using a micrometer, calipers, and hand tools; Ability to read blueprints; Skilled on an overhead crane.
  • Physical Capabilities: Wear personal protective equipment most of the time; Work in proximity to loud equipment; Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly; Respond quickly to sounds; Shift hours: 6:00AM to 2:00PM or 6:00AM to 4:00PM, weekend OT.
  • Mental Capabilities: Understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions; Understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines; Communicate with individuals; Complete routine forms; Use basic arithmetic operations.
