Machinist - 2nd Shift, Savanna, IL

  • Location: Savanna, IL
  • Work Arrangement: On-site
  • Schedule: 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM-11:30 PM; training on 1st Shift for up to 6 months, 6:30 AM-3:00 PM
  • Pay: $16.00-$19.00/hour, depending on experience
  • Other Compensation: $2.00/hour shift premium for 2nd Shift
  • Employment Type: Full-time / Hourly
  • Overtime: Overtime may be required based on business needs.

What You'll Do as a Machinist

  • Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other mechanical equipment to fabricate, assemble, and repair precision parts, including changing sensors.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, torque specifications, and engineering requirements to maintain accurate dimensions and tolerances.
  • Test and adjust machines, including making equipment adjustments using PLC screens, to support safe, efficient operation and product quality.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and service equipment to help ensure reliable production performance.
  • Use pick lists and bills of materials to accurately complete machine setups.
  • Identify and report issues with machinery or parts to supervisors for resolution.
  • Follow applicable Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Help train less experienced team members on applicable work processes and equipment.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Typically 3 years of machining and blueprint-reading experience in a metal manufacturing environment.
  • Machine operation and precision measurement skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply detailed work instructions, technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete required documentation accurately.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and technical applications used to support machine operation.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive assigned tasks to completion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build productive working relationships with team members and internal customers.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality to support production timelines and team operations.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is an on-site, hands-on manufacturing position involving work with lathes, milling machines, grinders, precision parts, and related production equipment. The role requires safely setting up, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and servicing machinery while following applicable Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures.
