Job title: Machine Designer
About the Role Machine Designer works under the Mechanical Engineering Manager to prepare to-scale, orthographically correct, computer-generated arrangement drawings and perform calculations to support equipment designed to meet As-Sold specifications. The role requires applying machine design knowledge, materials strength, motor characteristics, and hydraulic/pneumatic components, and adhering to ANDRITZ Metals USA engineering and CAD standards. The position operates with minimal supervision in a fast-paced metals processing environment.
What You'll Do
- Execute to-scale, orthographically correct, computer-generated arrangement drawings with little or no supervision.
- Ensure drawings comply with ANDRITZ Metals USA Engineering and CAD standards.
- Prepare design calculations to demonstrate feasibility of equipment.
- With supervisor guidance, utilize the company document retrieval system.
- Provide design and dimensional checks for assigned equipment.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of purchased component drawings to facilitate timely procurement of long-lead items.
- Check Bills of Materials for completeness and accuracy.
- Perform shop inspections of completed machines and field inspections, troubleshooting.
- Perform other related duties as required.
What We're Looking For
- Two years’ education beyond high school or documentable equivalent
- Ability to apply standard engineering analytical approaches to machine design problems, e.g., stress analysis and kinematics
- 5 to 8 years drafting experience, largely on heavy-duty machinery
- Read, write and comprehend English
