Job title: MAAS Systems Engineer
About the Role
Canonical is hiring a MAAS Systems Engineer to focus on building tooling to increase data center operational efficiency. You will manage the day-to-day operations of our Toronto-area lab used for Ubuntu Server certification of US-based silicon and server designs. You will write and use software that deploys and configures servers and network switches, and tackle design problems to do this reliably and at scale. You will work with cutting-edge hardware and collaborate with the Kernel Team and Partner Engineering.
What You'll Do
- Manage the day-to-day operations of Canonical's Toronto-area lab used for Ubuntu Server certification of US-based silicon and server designs.
- Write and use software that deploys and configures servers and network switches, enabling fast, scalable provisioning.
- Tackle design problems related to doing this well and fast at scale; collaborate with the Kernel Team and Partner Engineering.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in systems engineering and managing data center operations, with a focus on tooling to improve operational efficiency.
- Proficiency in writing software that deploys and configures servers and network switches.
- Ability to work on-site in Toronto and collaborate with hardware teams including Kernel Team and Partner Engineering.
- Familiarity with Ubuntu Server certification processes and working with silicon/server designs.
Nice to Have
- Experience with MAAS or similar server provisioning tooling.
- Experience with data center hardware management at scale.
