Job title: Low Voltage Technician

About the Role The Low Voltage Technician is a lead-level field role responsible for installing low voltage cabling, testing, and coordinating small crews across the United States. The position emphasizes safety, quality, and on-site leadership within IES Commercial projects.

What You'll Do

  • Install a work area outlet for floor or wall (terminate CAT3 & CAT5 jacks)
  • Mount faceplates and surface-mount boxes; adhere to labeling standards
  • Build closets (backboards, cross-connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic, and hardware)
  • Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable; complete IDC connections
  • Perform testing: continuity tests; use volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts and transpose pairs; use a tone set
  • Identify active voice or data circuits
  • Lead and train crew; coordinate timelines to complete the project
  • Complete IES COMMERCIAL paperwork: timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards and regulations
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

What We're Looking For

  • High School diploma or GED; minimum 2 years telecommunications or related technical experience; ability to supervise others
  • Proficient with listed tools and able to interpret blueprints and project documents, including specifications and quality requirements
  • Must know universal color codes; color vision; read small print
  • Able to travel within the branch/ regional territory as needed; regular attendance
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds; work at heights; confined spaces
  • Must meet company driving standards
  • Tools proficiency: screwdriver, drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers, hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight, punch tool, tone set, combo crimp tool; volt-ohmmeter

Nice to Have

  • Experience leading small installer teams and coordinating daily workloads
  • Familiarity with 110 block and 66 block terminations and patch panels

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Min USD 23.00/Yr; Max USD 32.00/Yr (USD)
  • Travel, lodging paid; $50/day food allowance
