Logistics Specialist

Our client is seeking a Logistics Specialist to manage outbound transportation, improve shipping efficiency, and deliver reliable service to customers. This role combines hands-on shipment coordination with transportation planning, TMS optimization, and performance analysis. The ideal candidate will bring manufacturing logistics experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to identify opportunities that reduce freight costs while improving delivery performance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate outbound shipments, carrier scheduling, and freight routing to meet delivery commitments while controlling transportation costs.
• Serve as a key user of the Transportation Management System (TMS), leveraging its capabilities to improve routing and shipping efficiency.
• Communicate directly with customers to address shipment inquiries, resolve delivery issues, and maintain strong service relationships.
• Verify shipping documentation and sales orders for accuracy and compliance with applicable transportation regulations.
• Develop and implement logistics improvements that reduce costs, streamline operations, and strengthen service reliability.
• Monitor shipment activity, transportation performance, and delivery metrics to identify and resolve operational issues.
• Generate reports and analyze logistics data to support operational improvements and informed decision-making.
• Evaluate carrier performance and shipping routes to identify cost savings and service improvements.
• Partner with internal teams and technology providers to improve logistics systems, reporting capabilities, and data accuracy.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across shipping and transportation operations.
• For Level II, provide team guidance, coordinate work assignments, and support employee development.
• For Level II, assist with material handling, production activities, and swing-shift operations when needed.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

• 2+ years of warehouse or outbound shipping experience within a manufacturing environment; 5+ years required for Level II.

• Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS), including demonstrated expertise in transportation optimization for Level II.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate shipping data, troubleshoot issues, and improve operational performance.

• Effective communication skills and a customer-focused approach to coordinating transportation activities.

• Demonstrated team leadership, work coordination, and performance management experience for Level II.

• Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification; bachelor's degree preferred for Level II.

• Inventory control experience, particularly for Level II candidates.
