Description

  • The Role

  • You’ll be the face of ThredUp’s Whatnot live shows, selling secondhand fashion and representing the ThredUp brand on camera from inside our distribution center, surrounded by real inventory. You’ll pull pieces, bring their stories to life, and turn viewers into buyers in real time. This isn’t a script you read. It’s an entertaining, interactive show where customers can discover and shop ThredUp’s unique inventory.

  • In This Role You'll Get To

  • Host live shows on Whatnot and other live selling platforms, sourced and selected directly by ThredUp.

  • Pull and prepare pieces before each show; know the brand, size, condition, and price before the live show.

  • Show each piece clearly: fabric, fit, flaws, styling ideas

  • Run the pace of the show; keep energy up, keep product moving, keep viewers watching

  • Answer viewer questions in real time and respond to chat throughout the stream

  • Track what sells and flag trends back to the product and merchandising teams; what moved fast, what didn't, what viewers asked for

  • What We're Looking For

  • Comfortable on camera for 2+ hour shifts, sustained energy the whole time

  • Preference for background in content creation or performance (live selling on Whatnot, strong on-camera performer with or theater, dance, improv/comedy, or similar performance based environments )

  • Interest in and passion for fashion, secondhand, and sustainability

  • Real product knowledge in fashion: brands, fabrics, fit, how to spot quality secondhand pieces

  • Quick on your feet: you can handle questions, respond to comments, and keep a show moving

  • Comfortable in a warehouse environment: on your feet, handling inventory, moving at a fast pace

  • Experience with technology, AI workflows, and data analysis

Compensation

  • Compensation will consist of an hourly rate, plus a 2% commission on the net sales of items sold during live shows. For example, if a 2-hour live show drives $5,000 in sales, the host earns 2% commission ($100 or an extra $50 per hour).
  • Performance-based schedule growth: more shows and higher commissions slots as you ramp

Schedule

  • Able to commute to ThredUp’s Lancaster, TX distribution center
  • Flexible shift structure: shows are scheduled based on peak viewer traffic, with morning, midday, evening, and weekend start times available
  • Expect 2-3 shows per week to start, with more added as we ramp the program

This role is structured as an independent contractor engagement with ThredUp Inc. and is not an employee position.
