Litigation Legal Assistant
We are looking for a Litigation Legal Assistant to support a busy litigation practice in Dallas, Texas. This role is suited for an organized individual who can coordinate multiple priorities, maintain organized case materials, and provide dependable administrative and legal support to attorneys. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, discretion, and the ability to keep deadlines on track in a fast-moving legal environment.
Responsibilities
- Submit pleadings, motions, and related materials through state court e-filing systems and coordinate filings in federal courts across multiple jurisdictions.
- Draft and format foundational litigation documents, including templates for discovery requests, motions, notices, and other court submissions.
- Maintain attorney calendars by tracking hearings, conference calls, scheduling orders, and critical case deadlines.
- Arrange depositions and assist with the logistics needed to support witness preparation and related proceedings.
- Assemble and organize binders and supporting materials for hearings, depositions, and trial preparation.
- Oversee both digital and physical case files to ensure records are current, accessible, and properly organized.
- Prepare administrative materials such as expense reimbursements, engagement documentation, and correspondence.
- Conduct legal and factual research to support case strategy and ongoing litigation needs.
- Review legal documents carefully to identify formatting issues, inconsistencies, and missing information before filing or distribution.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in a Legal Assistant role supporting litigation matters.
- Demonstrated background in e-filing and court filing procedures for both state and federal courts.
- Working knowledge of civil litigation processes, including complex commercial, business, defense, employment, intellectual property, or class action matters.
- Strong calendar management skills with the ability to monitor deadlines and handle multiple time-sensitive assignments.
- Excellent organizational abilities and the capacity to manage a high-volume workload with accuracy.
- High level of discretion when handling confidential legal and client information.
- Careful attention to detail and strong proofreading skills for legal documentation.
- Resourceful problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
